Ross School Students Celebrate with End-of-Year Ceremonies

Ross School celebrated the close of the 2017–2018 school year with multiple moving-up ceremonies this week, which were held to commemorate students’ passage from one grade to another. All of the ceremonies presented opportunities for students, faculty, staff, families, and friends to reflect upon the year’s achievements. The celebrations at the Bridgehampton campus of Ross Lower School also marked the start of the transition of grades EC–6 to Ross’s East Hampton campus in the fall.

The week began with the Eighth Grade Moving-Up Ceremony on Tuesday, June 19. The students walked along the path to Nike Green, where they celebrated the end of their middle school years. Eighth grade team leader Mark Tompkins, as well as several students, reflected upon the group’s accomplishments over the years and offered advice for success during their high school years.

Later that evening, sixth graders celebrated their transition to middle school during their End-of-Year Ceremony. Jeanette Tyndall, head of Ross Lower School and Middle School, gave the opening remarks, followed by speeches from Chris Engel, art teacher and director of Community Programs; Student Government President Keira Forsman; and elected class speaker Sienna Galesi-Grant. Later, the students presented their teacher, Deborah Minutello-Bartlett, with yellow sunflowers as a symbol of their gratitude.

The Early Childhood thorough Grade 5 End-of-Year Ceremony, took place on Wednesday, June 20. Following opening remarks from Jeanette Tyndall, recent Ross graduate Nina Damiecki ’18 gave a keynote address. Student performances of The Beatles’ “All Together Now” and “This Is Me” by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul were followed by class processions though an archway, symbolizing their transition to the next grade.

At each ceremony, heartfelt thanks were extended to Ross School Founder Courtney Sale Ross, the Parents Association, parents and families, faculty, and staff, whose efforts ensure that Ross School remains an extraordinary learning environment for all.

Congratulations on another successful year at Ross School! To view images from each end-of-year ceremony, please see the links below.
